  • March Madness and thoughts on removing the sentamentality of home.

We aren't talking basketball here. It happens every March as the calendar flips to March 1. My restlessness with preparing my thoughts for moving into our outdoor space at home start revving up. My finished-ness with being cooped up inside and a whole mess of new product arriving to start the nex...
  • The fresh start collection of pillows

Aptly named as we all had hoped that with the stroke of midnight the slate would just be wiped clean. And while in reality we knew that wouldn't be the case, it was a nice thing to think about. With the end of the holiday season and the cleaning that goes hand in hand with that, a fresh start on ...
  • 2021, have at er. The Oliver and Rust shop for winter

Let's just pretend shall we that I didn't teach you about lemon cypress plants back in November and then desert you for the entire holiday season. Shall we? The curve of transition and learning to dealing with a retail store amongst a pandemic has been steep and full of incline. A world of social...
  • Plant talk: Lemon cypress

I'm 100% sure I have likely done a blog post about the care of lemon cypress trees in the past. I am also unsure if that post is still alive in realm of this blog after all the switch overs. My vision this year for the shop was a traditional natural Christmas with a bit of the vintage eclectic thrown in. Loads of greenery and alway...
  • Fall at Oliver and Rust house

Did someone say it's fall? I could have sworn summer was just here shining on our life with warmth and all the beautiful plants. But, alas I missed a couple days in the hub Bub and now it's solidly fall and good grief I am going to say it because I am a retailer but it's also almost Christmas. Li...

Blogging Since 2015

This blog is written by Meg and includes tales of the renovations/ decor changes of her home and the shop she owns in Fonthill, Ontario. It goes back many years, much before the shop was born. It is like one of those stacking dolls. It started with a couple of kids buying their forever home. It snowballed into renovations, which turned into garage shows and then a store. If you are new here, welcome! We are glad you stopped by.
