  • When cleaning becomes rearranging and... still on team open shelves.

It's inevitable for the home decor set that when you start to clean something, rearranging mild or severe becomes a part of the equation. All I wanted to do was clean my open shelving in our kitchen. I fully wipe down the shelves a few times a year and just generally "degrease" everything. It'...
  • Before & After Fixer upper; because who doesn't love one of those?

If you've been around this blog for a long time, [like a long time.... this thing is 13 years old now] you may remember a couple years ago Trevor [Mr. Oliver and Rust] and I hit a score on the good old Kijiji. We found leather Ralph Lauren chairs in serious need of love.  No rips or tears and in ...
  • Neutral pillows: adult teddy bears: you choose

It's that time again. Another load of pillows graces our shelves. I've washed, I've cut, I've sewn. The team has flipped, de threaded, ironed and tagged. This collection features mainly pillows made in house with a healthy sprinkling of vintage pillows recreated from vintage rugs in the best rec...
  • Summer patio living' at Oliver and Rust house

It is summer and the living is full of shovels this year.  We have been mentally preparing and saving for the plan for our backyard for plus 10 years and solidly working on bringing around the plan for the last 4. • Time for a little spring walk about in the shop

As we approach the half way point to the year, it's a great time to share some photos of the space that I call a second home and to sneak in some photos of what it looks like all steady and silent waiting to hear the doorbell ring...
  • Pillows for inside and out.

We even had a fun contest on instagram to see how everyone's "jelly bean" counting skills could add up guessing the amount of pillows that are hanging out at...

Blogging Since 2015

This blog is written by Meg and includes tales of the renovations/ decor changes of her home and the shop she owns in Fonthill, Ontario. It goes back many years, much before the shop was born. It is like one of those stacking dolls. It started with a couple of kids buying their forever home. It snowballed into renovations, which turned into garage shows and then a store. If you are new here, welcome! We are glad you stopped by.
